This a long overdue 'Thank You' to all of our customers who have helped us achieve several milestones in our small operation.
We're proud of every positive feedback earned since taking the leap into the world of on-line selling. We hope to keep it that way.
Since we originally started, we've stuck to a simple listing format without fancy backgrounds or borders. We know you don't have a lot of time waiting for a bunch of bells & whistles to download. Our motto is keep it simple, yet factual and have some nice clear pictures to boot. We'll always email additional photos or provide more information – please ask.
Browse through our selections and you're sure to find something of interest for a new hobby, general reading or maybe a nostalgia item that you have fond memories of.
Our Background
Tim worked in a small family-owned bookstore in Florida for 8 years, learning everything he could. He was trained by a woman who knew her antique books well and taught him how to carefully clean and describe a books points on an index card, which was the standard before computers. He tries very hard to be accurate and sure does like the scanner, but can't lean on it too much- Customers can't see beyond the Cover or DJ and need details of any flaws.
Winky worked at this bookstore also and has learned what is treasure and trash in the bookworld. She has studied the Bookman Weekly and other publications to broaden her knowledge of the book trade. Her reading interest varies, but she has a particular interest in beautifully illustrated children's books.
Winky still reads quite a bit and there is not much gray area for her: Liked It or Hated It. If you see: Winky Recommended - it's a sure hit. Tim on the other hand has been dubbed a dabble reader - need we say more?
Tim takes pride in his packaging and it shows in our feedback. Nothing irks us more than to receive a book shipped unprotected from the Postal man-handling and elements of nature.
How We Operate
Simply put, we still scour and scrounge around in our vicinity (but not as often) to get our used stock. We know it's impossible to see it all, buy it all, keep it all, so we buy what we can and hope others will share our sentiments about our selections.
We operate out of our basement which is 70 degrees and de-humidified. We have approx 10,000 titles to list which does not include new stuff we might bring in tomorrow. All books are inspected and cleaned inside and out with our secret formulae before listing.
We have accumulated many, many books over the years and can only list a few a day. Please be patient while we decide what to list next. We've also decided to have what Winky call's our "pre-estate sale"--Items we've collected over the years that will need a new owner. It's a slow turtle pace around here sometimes, but watch out when Tim decides it's packing and shipping time – Need to get it out asap to our customers.
About Our Pricing
It seems that we are being pinched tighter every day, between the postage fees, gasoline, groceries, living expenses and listing fees, there not much wiggle room left – but Everybody likes a deal.
